letters from is a series for paid subscribers to this newsletter does a mix of free and paid stuff (for the people, for my billz). Oh, and! If you live in or near Boston, come to this panel I’m on at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Titled THE LARGER CONVERSATION: MIGRATION AND MEMORY, it’s a group conversation with artist Sneha “Imagine” Shrestha, producer Susan Chinsen, and award-winning journalist Heidi Shin. We’ve had a few prep calls, and I’m hype for this.
Our conversation will touch on questions like, how is culture handed down across generations and borders? How are places of belonging created and sustained? What is the role of art and artists in creating these connections?
And to my very great joy, our panel will be in conversation with the work of actual genius Raqib Shaw, an artist whose work I adore. Shaw’s stunning exhibit will be open to all event guests. Tell your Boston-based friends.
